Olena Zelenska, wife of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, reportedly traveled to Paris France for a three-day visit December 12-14, according to Ukrainian News site Le Monde, where Olena spent around $40,000 euros (about $42,400 in dollars) within an hour.
This comes while her husband is constantly begging the world for more money to rebuild Ukraine and fight back against Russia’s invasion. The Biden administration is in the process of trying to push congress to send another $38 billion, which would bring total spending on Ukraine to $100 billion since the war began earlier this year.
This brief stay is supposedly to show France’s unwavering support for Kyiv and the “resilience” of the Ukrainian people, according to Le Monde.
The first lady isn’t the only high profile Ukrainian expected to visit Paris. Le Monde is also reporting that other members of the Ukrainian government will also likely come for a visit. “Members of the Ukrainian government will also come, including Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, and several ministers in charge of reconstruction, including Yulia Svyrydenko (economy), Oleksandr Kubrakov (infrastructure) and German Galushchenko (energy), according to the site.
This all comes just months after the Zelenskyy and his wife posed for Vogue and the same week that Zelenskyy appealed to FIFA to “spread a message of peace” during the World Cup Final.
