Millionaire entrepreneur, author of Woke, Inc., self-described intellectual godfather of the anti-woke movement and Founder of Strive Asset Management, Vivek Ramaswamy filed to run for President on Tuesday.
Ramaswamy said that he was strongly considering running because of the “national identity crisis” that the country has been facing.
“We are at a point in our national history when the things that used to fill that void — faith, patriotism, hard work, even family — have disappeared,” he said, adding that in its absence, “wokeism, climate-ism as an ideology, radical gender ideology, Covidism” have become secular religions that fill that “black hole of identity.”
“To put America first, we need to rediscover what America is. That’s why I am running for president,” Ramaswamy wrote in a Wall Street Journal editorial. “I am launching not only a political campaign but a cultural movement to create a new American Dream—one that is not only about money but about the unapologetic pursuit of excellence.”
Ramaswamy has been very critical of ESG, leading him to co-found Strive Asset Management, which was created as an alternative to investment firms heavily pushing ESG.
Ramaswamy is now the fourth candidate to announce a run for what is shaping up to be a crowded Republican field, although his announcement video made no mention of the Republican party itself.
Ramaswamy has already been barnstorming across Iowa and has even met with former Iowa Governor and political kingmaker Terry Branstad.
