Former Congresswoman Liz Cheney (R-WY) said on CNN’s State of the Union on Sunday that she is willing to do “whatever is necessary to defeat Donald Trump” and that may include running for President herself.
“I haven’t made any decisions about it yet” Cheney said but that the most important decision is to defeat Donald Trump.
“Electing Donald Trump is not Russian roulette; electing Donald Trump would mean putting in power a man who is committed to unraveling our constitutional framework. So Bill Barr is just wrong on that,” the former congresswoman said referring to former Attorney General Bill Barr’s comments that re-electing Trump would be “Russian roulette” but that Biden getting re-elected would be “outright national suicide”.
When asked if Cheney was going to endorse President Biden if the race came down to Biden vs Trump, Cheney said that she wasn’t going to make any announcements or endorsements yet but that she was going to do “whatever it takes” to defeat Trump.
Cheney, the daughter of former Vice President Dick Cheney, overwhelmingly lost her primary re-election in 2022 to pro-Trump candidate Harriet Hageman after voting to impeach Donald Trump following the January 6th Capitol riot.
Cheney is one of the names that is speculated to run on the No Labels ticket, which has said they will run an alternative ticket made up of a moderate Democrat and moderate Republican if the election came down to Biden vs Trump again.
